STICKER FUNDRAISERS

Charity campaigns supporting marginalized communities.

About the project

Over the past couple of years, many events have made racism and prejudices against minority groups blatantly evident, particularly in America. In support of these groups, I put my skills to use to speak up against the hate and advocate for change while donating all proceeds to organizations doing the same. So far, I’ve held two fundraisers; one for the Black Lives Matter Movement in June 2020 and one for Stop Asian Hate in April 2021.

TOOLS

Procreate, Adobe Illustrator,
Adobe InDesign

Design

I designed hand-lettered stickers to fundraise donations for organizations led by and in support of minority groups. Some designs have varying colorways to provide several buying options for customers.

Process

To create these stickers, I drew and refined the lettered designs in Procreate. I brought them into InDesign to size and format them for printing. The stickers are printed on weatherproof vinyl sticker paper and cut with my Cricut cutting machine.

Execution

I ran the fundraiser out of my apartment and managed the whole project on my own. I collected payments, created personalized receipts, and shipped orders to over two hundred total customers.

#blacklivesmatter

During the summer of 2020, the Black Lives Matter Movement surged following the death of George Floyd and many others at the hands of police brutality. To support the black communities heavily affected by these events, I used my stickers to help raise money for black-led and black-supporting organizations.

#stopasianhate

Anti-Asian racism and hate crimes have risen during the pandemic and have greatly affected Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. During the spring of 2021, many of us took a stand to fight against this hatred. I created stickers to raise money for Asian-led and supporting organizations and increase awareness about racism toward the AAPI community.
